A Mother's Day

Yeah, so my mother's day post is a little late...oh well...it is just one of many things I am behind on.
I had planned on being sentimental for Mother's Day on the blog and honoring my mom, my mother-in-law and my grandmothers.  They all have made impressions on me as a mother, and I wanted to acknowledge them for it (so, quickly, thank you for all you have done).  I started planning this post a few days in advance with dreams of a leisurely day of not doing much of anything...almost...taking the day off.
Well, then I woke up...
I woke up before the rest of the household and got a shower.  Woke up the husband so he could shower.  I then got the kiddos clothes picked out for church and woke those sleepy heads up.  I fixed breakfast...did dishes...got dinner in the crock pot so I wouldn't have much to do that evening...packed the diaper bag for church...went to church.  Thankfully, after a quick trip to walmart, we went to Taco Bell for lunch to bring home.  After putting Sutton down for a nap, I TRIED to take one myself.  The girls sat with me in the bed.  I asked them not to talk to me too much so I could sleep.  I had a few fights to break up. I fixed dinner...got kids ready for the bed...then had to spend an hour cleaning up a mess from our puppy.  JT had a horrible day of pain so he was "out of it" and since bed time was pushed back because of the dog, I had a very unhappy toddler pitching fits because nothing was going her way.
I tried very hard not to be bitter all day about not  getting "my day off".  I mean, is that too much to ask?  :)  All you moms know what I am talking about.
Then I started thinking.  If I didn't have all of the above to do that day, I would not be a mom, and I wouldn't have that day.  Those little ones made me a mom and with them comes all the responsibilities of it.  I will never get a day off.  And for that I am thankful!

It all wasn't bad that day.  I got homemade cards, a hanging basket of flowers, and a surprise (a surprise to both my husband and I) of a kitchen aid stand mixer.  It was on sell for a ridiculously low amount at wal-mart, so it was my impromptu mother's day gift.
