We moved.
Again? Yes. Again.
I will go into details at a later date, but we have decided to make Alaska our home...outside of the military...for a little while longer.
Outside of the military?
Yes. In case you don't know, JT is being medically retired because of injuries from Iraq and Afghanistan. That too will be explained in more detail later.
But we now own a house.
It is our house...one we can paint! :)
It has been a long time since we owned a house and I forgot how owning a home can make you feel.
Amazing!
We love it...I think the kids love it more than my husband and I do.
The backyard is possibly the most peaceful thing about this house (because the inside is filled with many little girl squeals). It is my most favorite thing about the house...the backyard...and the little girl squeals are the icing on the cake.
And no there is no wildlife...well...big wildlife. We were told there is one moose who rarely visits. We don't really have to worry about bears.
But we do see eagles. JT saw a fox too.
For the most part the kids and dogs can play and not worry.
They know what to do if they see a moose or bear.
And if they so happen to see Big Foot (which Ella is certain he lives back there), they are to ask him to go sledding.
My other favorite thing about our home is the kitchen layout.
And the kids love it too...they can finally be in the kitchen "helping" without being right under me.
And "help" they do! :)
With a new place comes lots of new things and exploring.
So long baseboard heating, and hello floor vents.
Our scrap piece of carpet left by the builders has since been replaced. :)
JT has taken a more active roll in Project Healing Waters. The girls love it too...obviously. I mean who wouldn't love taking colorful feathers and beads and string and making them into something pretty?
That is not a brace on Ella's arm, it is part of an old halloween costume...and the ears are an everyday accessory. EVERY. DAY.
This child has grown!
As my great grandmother use to say...I need to put a brick on her head, because she is growing like a weed.
She talks like crazy. And you can understand her if you speak fluent Campbell.
Also, in the last couple days, her hair has had a growth spurt and it is super, super curly.
Pictures will come.
Last week, we lost our oldest dog, Tank. It was probably the saddest day for us as a family. He went through it all with us.
He was terribly sick.
The woods provided some healing for those needing to get out of what seemed like an empty house.
I have a feeling this backyard is what will be remembered the most by the girls when they are older.
I hope it is full of wonder, discovery, love, laughter, and great discussions.
