Sleep

Around the age of 2 my children give up their naps.

They fight taking a nap and if they do, they will spend an hour or 2 getting up at bed time to tell me they aren't tired.

So...out go the naps.  I would rather them sleep at night than nap during the day.

So, we have rest time.
I will usually pop in a movie for them to watch. (gasp...I don't make them play in their room quietly or make them read? No.  I am fine with my parenting choice on this one.)

Rest time works for us.  I can get a few things done while they rest or I can rest myself.

We all know that the youngest does not sleep.

Well, this weekend, she has officially given up her naps!

ONE. YEAR. TOO. EARLY.

I had a feeling this was going to happen about a month back.  Her naps got really short.
I will tell you I am not happy about this.  But at the same time, I can't fight this one.

Rest time doesn't really work for her.  She doesn't sit still for anything.

When JT was deployed, I had a 7pm bed time for the girls.  It was wonderful!  They didn't fight it, and I got a few hours to myself before I went to bed.  It kept me sane!  And sanity is a must when your husband is gone for any length of time.

Since he came home, bed time was moved back.  Then with this light situation (the sun not setting), bed time has been moved back further unintentionally.

Tonight, 7pm bedtime was reinstated!
No fights from the littles and the big girls get to play quietly in their room til 8pm.

I feel less tired and overwhelmed before I get in the bed.

I hope this means more sleep at night for the youngest....hahaha...who am I kidding!
