Mt. Rushmore

Like Old Faithful, I never thought I would be able to see Mt. Rushmore in person.  As much as I wanted to travel across country, I didn't see that happening.  But it did.  We got to see some pretty amazing sights.

This is a nice side trip, one to get out and stretch your legs.  It is pretty much just the mountain and the trail.  I am sure if you travel during tourist season, there is probably more to do in the area.

The younger two are pretty much the only ones that are slow enough for me to capture on camera.  The older two are not as big into getting in front of the camera.  Also, too, I don't want to stop their experience and wonder just to snap a posed photo.  Not that there is anything wrong in doing that a few times, it just isn't something I really want to do.

This looks over the Badlands...one day I will see the closer.  We we trying to make it to our destination for the evening, so we by passed them. :(

At the end of our day, I DID make the kids stand in front of the states they were born in.  And I am not creative or quick enough to make Campbell do what she did in the last picture.

I am so thankful that the kids were able to see the country.  Talk about making the world your classroom!
