Thurderstorms

Being from the south, you get use to thunderstorms. I have never really had a fear of storms growing up. There were a few that would leave me lying in bed wide eyed until they were over. I think a lot of my non-fear stems from watching the storms roll in on my grandparents back porch. I remember sitting in either one of their laps while the "thunder rolled and the lightening striked" (Sorry, I couldn't help myself. And for those of you who don't know this famous line in the famous Garth Brooks song, sorry as well). It was a happy and simple time then. So, as long as the storm doesn't bring a tornado warning with it, I am fine with them.
When we moved to Alaska, I found out that they don't have storms. It just rains! I missed my storms. Lightening is so rare, apparently, that a couple hiked to the top of a mountain in the middle of an electrical storm to see it. Um, can we say crazy? And guess what happened, they got struck...they ended up being fine.
I told my mom that when I came back, I wanted a thunderstorm. I was so excited when we got to have our first storm. I will say this, after not being in a storm for a year, they can be pretty scary. They can also be very damaging.

A branch fell through the roof of my parents sunroom. My step-dad was quick to get a door off its hinges and get it up to cover the whole. My brother Cole was right there with him. It was a HUGE mess. Thankfully, no one was hurt.
