I am sitting here at my desk wrapped in my fleece jacket (ok, that is always), but I have on my slippers and a huge thick blanket wrapped around my feet....and I am still cold.
It has been super cold here in Alaska. Yes, I live in Alaska, and most people think it is covered in snow year round. It is not. And the temps we have been having in the Anchorage area are not normal temps....usually in the low twenties or upper teens.
You know it is cold when the snow doesn't want to come out and play!
It is winter and of course winter is cold everywhere, right? Wrong! If it is 20 degrees or above, it is not cold. Chilly...maybe...NOT cold.
When I see someone from back home state that it is cold outside on Facebook, I have to resist the urge to comment and say "No it is not!" My brother says I am a cold snob. Yes, I am.
Now that I know what cold is, I will never exclaim I am cold if we are ever back in the south again. If I do, someone please slap me upside the head...then let me know that it is cold when I can no longer breathe through my nose because my nose hairs are frozen...or when I rip skin off my hands pumping gas....that is when it is cold.
I am sure I will have to be reminded.
But it is cold. It has been hovering around -19 degrees here at the house. It is sad when you go to the store and it is 7 degrees warmer and you notice the difference.
But why am I covered so much inside my house? The seal is broken around the window near my desk. We never noticed it til the temps dropped. If you are on the floor, you feel it.
JT tried to caulk around the window, but it didn't work...it was too cold. So, I placed a towel down hoping to stop the breeze. It doesn't work too well either....a call will be placed to housing tomorrow!
