OK..Ok...to call it a blizzard would be exaggerating a bit. BUT we did get a lot of snow and some winds...so we will call it blizzard LIKE conditions.
There is a quote I have seen on Pinterest a lot that says, "Cleaning the house while kids are there, is like shoveling snow while it is still snowing." or something to that effect.
I know people would say "Amen" to that, but not me...or most anyone else that lives in a snowy area.
Shoveling snow while it is still snowing has is benefits. You may have to shovel more than once, but it is a lot easier to shovel a few inches compared to a couple of feet.
With snow, you don't know when it will stop...with kids, they go to bed at some point.
So get out there and shovel that snow!
I put on my snow gear...shoes, buff and gloves...and headed out to shovel the snow while it was still snowing. When I got one area cleared, I would turn around and it would be covered again.
My knight in shining armor...or green GLoomis sweat shirt, came to save me. We managed to hold on to a snow blower that belongs to someone else, which he operated. I, however, did it the old-fashioned way...with a shovel...not because I am afraid of the big snow blower or anything...
He was tired...and in a lot of pain.
This is me, super excited that we shoveled the 7 or so inches that had already fallen...or I was excited just to spend a little bit of time with my husband...or that I had help...or that I broke a sweat, which means a good work out...or all of the above.
I so look like I have a lazy eye...I don't...or atleast if I do, I haven't noticed it in 30 years (almost 30 years).
The snow finally let up...reports say we got about 15 inches of snow! I am glad we cleared out some of it when we did. 15 inches is no joke.
Later that night we braved that blizzard and went to the girl's ballet and tumbling recital.
No, you crazy southerners it wasn't canceled....and yes, this crazy southerner wished it was.
That was probably one of the scariest drives EVER in Alaska!
