Let me say in advance that we are not perfect parents, and we do not have everything figured out!
So, for those of you that think our household flows smoothly and everything is bliss all the time...it is not...I assure you.
But we have learned a few things along the way....and we try to implement as much as possible, but it doesn't always happen.
There is great importance of letting kids do things on their own with you standing back and teaching them. It build confidence and allows for independence. If I know my kids know how to do something, I will make them do it on their own. If they need help, I am always there to help.
But I want my children to know how to do things themselves or atleast have them make an attempt to do it on their own. I don't want them to just say "I can't" without giving it a good effort first. Too many adults do that today. Also, with raising girls, I want them to know how to take care of a home, but I also want them to know how to do the traditional "man" jobs. There is no guarantee they will get married or if they do the table may turn and they need to take care of their husband. I want to send my child out on her first driving experience alone know that if she get a flat tire while driving, she can change it herself (still with a call to her Daddy so he can still be there to rescue her ;) ).
Ella is very curious about EVERYTHING! She will ask you questions and barely give you time to answer them. She has been very interested in cooking. She always has really but now she is to the point where she wants to REALLY help. We both are taking the time to teach her a few things.
So, JT taught her about the grill and how to grill chicken.
She was so excited and while we sat down to eat, she repeated everything she learned. AND she ate all her food...because she cooked it.
And what is a picture of JT without him being goofy!
I love my husband!!
And yes, we still grill outside during the winter. Once those temps get above 20, we are good! I love it because I am only responsible for the sides.

I love this! My parents wanted the same for me. I knew how to check and fill all of my car's fluids (which was needed with my first car!). Sadly, though, I still have yet to tackle the grill. You can tell Ella that she knows more about grilling than her Aunt Becky! :)
