Goodbye Tree

We have a little evergreen tree outside our dining room window.  Well...we had a little tree.

When we moved in our house, it was a tiny thing.  It was easily decorated for Christmas our first Christmas here.  I could wrap my arms around it.
We watched little birds make their homes in the tree and hatch their babies.
It provided a little privacy from cars driving by.
We watched it bounce back year after year as the snow melts.
And it grew.  And it grew.
Just as my children grew.

But then...just like that...it was gone.

It was rather devastating for my girls.
Olivia called the men, destruction workers.
Sutton Grace called them bad guys.
Ella was angry.

I was sad for my girls.  It was a little piece of our life.

Campbell just watched in amazement, not sure of what was taking place out our window.

But after the tears had dried, curiosity set in as the men dug into the ground to make room for window wells for our basement.
